When it came to storage benchmarks on the Talos II workstation, Debian 9.7 was the fastest but the Debian Buster release was on the slowest end of this set of Linux distributions benchmarked.

With CompileBench, Ubuntu 18.10 was leading the race.

Ubuntu 18.10 wasn't just leading with CompileBench, but for many of the CPU intensive real-world benchmarks, Ubuntu 18.10 was the fastest.
