PlaidML Deep Learning Framework Benchmarks With OpenCL On NVIDIA & AMD GPUs
For getting a broad look at the PlaidML performance across the sixteen graphics cards tested, here is the harmonic mean of all the results carried out for testing of this OpenCL deep learning benchmarks on both AMD and NVIDIA hardware.
The Radeon RX Vega 64 overall did manage to compete with the GeForce GTX 1080 except for the cases where the performance was very slow. The RX Vega 56 meanwhile came in line with the GTX 1070 but both the RX 580 and RX 590 Polaris graphics cards came in well short of the GeForce GTX 1060. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti performance meanwhile was nearly double that of the Radeon RX Vega 64.
More benchmarks of PlaidML on both CPUs and GPUs will be coming up in future articles on Phoronix.
