Next up are a lot of open-source (and built-from-source via the test profiles as always) computational benchmarks tested with both GCC and Clang under Ubuntu 14.10.

PolyBench-C was significantly faster on Ubuntu 14.10 when testing under GCC 4.9 and LLVM Clang 3.5. Xcode in OS X 10.10 is based on LLVM Clang 3.5 as well.

MAFFT also ended up being noticeably faster on Ubuntu 14.10 than OS X 10.10.

With GraphicsMagick, using GCC on Ubuntu 14.10 was generally the fastest since this application depends on OpenMP support, which isn't yet implemented in mainline by Clang. However, when using Clang on Ubuntu, its results were lower than OS X 10.9.5/10.10.1.
