When starting things off with some basic OpenGL tests, the Znver1 version of OpenMandriva Lx 4.0 if anything offered a tiny bit better performance with the Radeon graphics on this Threadripper box.

When it comes to the CPU/system performance, the results came down to a wash. In some of these tests, which were focused on using the system-supplied binaries, there were wins here and there but also cases where the generic x86-64 performance cane out ahead.

It was tough to call any winner in the Java performance.
