With Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, all of the latest-generation AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce hardware tested is easily playable at 2560 x 1600 with the proprietary Linux graphics drivers... One item to point out is that it seems the Radeon R9 290 Hawaii performance is still poor under Linux with this $400+ USD graphics card running at just about the same speed as the GeForce GTX 770, which retails for about $100 less.

The GTX 770 beat out the R9 290 with OpenArena, albeit any of these mid to high-end GPUs were able to easily churn out hundreds of frames per second. These results are mostly in line with expectations given our recent Linux graphics benchmarks.

The performance of the AMD Catalyst Linux driver was poor with Team Fortress 2. The GeForce GTX 760 was even running faster than the Radeon R9 290; the GTX 760 retails for just about $250 USD and was smashing the $400+ R9 290.
