With the very visually demanding Unigine Valley tech demo, not even the GeForce GTX 780 Ti could deliver above 30 FPS. The Radeon R9 290 meanwhile was running the speed of a GeForce GTX 770, a graphics card that costs significantly less than AMD's offering.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti on the NVIDIA side and the Radeon HD 7950 or better on the AMD side could run Unvanquished with an average FPS of over sixty. To no surprise, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti continued to lead... With this open-source game, the $400+ (USD) Radeon R9 290 was even beat out by the GeForce GTX 760, a $250~300 graphics card.
