While the Mad Max OpenGL performance with RadeonSI and NVIDIA was largely in line with how things should perform, under Vulkan, NVIDIA leads. While the open-source "RADV" Radeon Vulkan driver has matured a lot for Mesa 17.3 and is now even largely faster than the AMDGPU-PRO Vulkan driver, the NVIDIA Vulkan performance is still better. In these Mad Max Vulkan tests, the GTX 1070 was faster than the RX Vega 64 and the RX 580 was losing out to the GTX 1060.

Serious Sam 3 BFE with Vulkan was also letting NVIDIA run ahead compared to RADV, at least with the RX Vega 64 only running with the GTX 1070.

Likewise, with The Talos Principle, the RX Vega 64 and RX 580 were coming in well short of expectations with this current RADV driver. But even if you are a current RADV user, Mesa 17.3 is running much faster than earlier releases for this open-source OpenGL/Vulkan driver project.
