GCC 5.0 Outruns LLVM 3.5 Compiler By A Bit On Core-AVX2
GCC 5.0 was faster than Clang 3.5 at FLAC and MP3 format audio encoding.
GCC 5.0 was also noticeably faster than Clang at the HINT benchmark.
The Apache web-server performance was close to the same.
While Clang overall is still competitive with GCC, in a number of benchmarks GCC 5.0 had the upper-hand over the near-final version of LLVM Clang 3.5. That's where things stand at least for this Core i7 4960X Haswell / Core-AVX2 system. More x86 and ARM compiler tests will be forthcoming on Phoronix.
