With Team Fortress 2, enabling additional cores past three wasn't of any real help.

Xonotic saw only a minor improvement with 2+ cores.

Tesseract saw some scaling with this open-source game up to six CPU cores while its threading support seems to have some overhead when dealing with 2~4 cores.

ET: Legacy with its OpenGL 3 renderer saw minimal scaling.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive saw its frame-rates rise up to four CPU cores.
