LLVM Clang was slightly slower than GCC when it came to the MAFFT scientific test.

The Low-Level Virtual Machine with the Clang front-end had regressed more heavily compared to the stock GCC builds with the MrBayes scientific test, but GCC 4.6 with the corei7-avx support was the strong winner.

With HMMer, another scientific test, the LLVM Clang 2.9 SVN performance wasn't quite as strong as the stock GCC 4.5.2/4.6.0 compilers, but it wasn't in as bad shape as GCC 4.6 with corei7-avx optimizations, which had regressed heavily.
