If you have been curious how Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors are performing with the latest open-source Linux graphics driver, hopefully these results from Ubuntu with Linux 3.13 Git and Mesa 10.1-devel were helpful. Sandy Bridge is good enough for desktop use but in terms of any gaming you're really much better off with an HD Graphics 4000 "Ivy Bridge" or ideally a Haswell system -- as shown by many Phoronix benchmarks, the Intel Haswell performance is quite good and it's going to be even better with Broadwell.

To see how your system compares in this assortment of Linux OpenGL games, install the Phoronix Test Suite and then run phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1312048-SO-IVYSANDYM04. It's super easy but should you have any questions or problems feel free to stop by our forums.
