To recap, the Core i7 4770K has a base frequency of 3.5GHz with a Turbo Frequency of 3.9GHz while the i7-4790K has a base of 4.0GHz and turbo of 4.4GHz. When starting with the LAMMPS molecular dynamics simulator, the i7-4790K immediately showed a 13% improvement in performance over the original i7-4770K Haswell processor -- which is scaling well with the Turbo Frequency of the i7-4770K vs. i7-4790K coming out to a 13% difference.

TTSIOD came in at about 9% faster with the Devil's Canyon CPU over the i7-4770K.

The x264 video encoding performance was 6% faster with the updated Haswell CPU. It's a pity for consumers that AMD has no high-end processor competition for enthusiasts.
