Beginning with GraphicsMagick and the HWB Color Space test, the Core i3 530 running at its stock speed was just slightly faster than the Core 2 Duo E8400 running. When pushing the Core i3 from 2.93GHz to 3.60GHz it was still roughly the same speed as the Core 2 Duo E8400 when it was pushed from 3.00GHz to 3.83GHz. AMD's triple-core Phenom II X3 710 was slightly behind the Core i3 530 at stock speeds.

The Core i3 architecture was of more benefit to GraphicsMagick with Local Adaptive Thresholding where the Core i3 530 at 2.93GHz was even faster than the overclocked Core 2 Duo E8400.

With traditional DES in John The Ripper, the Core 2 Duo E8400 with its slightly higher clocks pulled out slightly ahead of the Core i3 530. The Core i3 530 though was much stronger than the AMD tri-core processor.

The Blowfish performance was a similar story to the other John The Ripper test.
