Not all applications will benefit from the core-avx2 instructions. With GCC 4.8.1, the Himeno Poisson Pressure Solver even regressed when the new instruction set extensions were exposed. Hopefully this new Haswell support will be better polished for GCC 4.9.

C-Ray, one of our most favorite multi-threaded ray-tracers, saw huge benefits out of core-avx2. The other -march= options didn't provide much benefit, but going from core-avx-i to core-avx2 was of huge potential.

Smallpt was also a huge win with core-avx2 on the Intel Core i7 4770K processor.
