What we gathered from these tests conducted on the Intel Atom desktop was that Ubuntu 8.10 was generally the fastest distribution. OpenSuSE 11.1 RC1 on the other hand was in last place most frequently. However, OpenSuSE 11.1 hasn't officially been released yet and is the only distribution of the ones we used in this article that are still in testing, but the final release is coming in just a few days. As we are still continuing in our Atom tests, we will not draw any definitive conclusions now but stay tuned for more testing on different Atom-powered netbooks using these latest Linux distributions.
