Another HPC benchmark where the Xeon Platinum 8380 2P did come out ahead was the LULESH hydrodynamics software package.

In the case of NAMD 2.14, the Xeon Platinum 8380 performance was comparable to the EPYC 7713. Note that with the next release, NAMD 2.15, while not out yet there should be much better performance for AVX-512 enabled processors.

The GROMACS performance came in between the EPYC 7713 and EPYC 7763 processors.

OpenFOAM meanwhile scales very well and performed better with the AMD EPYC processors tested.

Likewise, Quantum Espresso on Ice Lake trailed behind the tested Zen 3 processors but at least there was significant improvement going from the Xeon Platinum 8280 to 8380 -- thanks in part to going from 28 to 40 cores.
