With the single-threaded FLAC and MP3 audio encoding benchmarks and eSpeak-NG were additional cases where the Core i7 1165G7 performance to much surprise ended up regressing compared to Ice Lake on Ubuntu Linux.

This seems to be as in the very lightweight workloads, the Tiger Lake CPU was sticking to a lower performance state with the Dell XPS 13 9310.

The performance of Tiger Lake with the GEGL imaging library also wound up slower on the Dell XPS 13 9310.

But when switching back to heavier benchmarks, the Core i7 1165G7 returns to where it should be and that's faster than the Core i7 1065G7. It seems with Tiger Lake it tends to be too conservative in ramping up clocks with lighter workloads compared to prior generations, at least with the out-of-the-box Linux behavior or Dell's BIOS configuration for the XPS 13 9310.
