Benchmarks Of JCC Erratum: A New Intel CPU Bug With Performance Implications On Skylake Through Cascade Lake

Right from the start we were quickly seeing benchmarks impacted by the new microcode. In some cases using the updated assembler on Clear Linux was able to restore much of the performance lost but not in all of the tests was the performance recovered.

In some workloads using the new assembler only regressed the performance, to which Intel is looking into those tests.

MrBayes and others are among real-world workloads being impacted by the JCC erratum microcode update.

In tests like Golang and Java, the GNU Assembler update won't be of help unless rebuilding the underlying components themselves.
