But what about Linux gaming performance? After all, Intel does claim the i9-12900K to be the "world's best gaming processor"... Unfortunately, under Linux that isn't the case at this time at least not without further tuning/optimizations (poor Thread Director behavior being the most likely issue).

AMD Zen 3 processors were tending to still perform the best across various Linux gaming benchmarks -- both native and via the likes of Steam Play (Proton). The Radeon RX 6800 graphics card was used for all of the tests given its stellar open-source driver support.

The AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors were tending to deliver superior performance to the tested Alder Lake processors when it came to Linux gaming. The poor Alder Lake showing appears to be due to some of the game runs getting bound to the E cores rather than P cores.
