GCC 9 vs. Clang 8 C/C++ Compiler Performance On AMD Threadripper, Intel Core i9

Clang is performing fairly well these days with GraphicsMagick and its OpenMP-threaded image manipulation tasks.

Himeno was another case of Clang 8 yielding a slightly faster binary than GCC 9 on the AMD Threadripper system.

Again with Stockfish, Clang 8 yielded a slightly faster binary over GCC for this chess benchmark. The Intel GCC vs. Clang performance was comparable.

Clang 8 was compiling code faster than GCC 9.1 on both of these HEDT systems tested.

Well, for some workloads at least. In the case of compiling PHP, GCC compiled it faster than Clang.
