GCC 8 vs. LLVM Clang 6 Performance At End Of Year 2017

Clang did pull in another win with the TSCP chess benchmark.

Clang's OpenMP performance still remains not as competitive as GCC's mature support.

GCC was also faster running the Himeno pressure solver.

While Clang was slightly faster with the ebizzy web server workload benchmark.

But Clang still maintains an advantage of being able to compile code generally quicker than GCC, but at least GCC has stepped up its compilation timing performance in recent releases.
