GCC 12 Compiler Performance Is Looking Good For Intel Alder Lake

Of the dozens of open-source C/C++ benchmarks carried out, most of them offered a subtle difference as is usually the case... At least trending better with the new GCC.

Of the dozens of benchmarks carried out, the high performance computing NWChem chemistry software was performing much better when built with GCC 12 Git. This was the biggest win by far seen from the many benchmarks carried out.

In other heavy workloads, GCC 12 was generally achieving more modest wins.

GCC 12 is certainly moving in the right direction at least on Alder Lake. Other Intel, AMD, and AArch64 compiler benchmarks to come in 2022.
