Looking at the OpenMP-supported GraphicsMagick, the results were close again, but in favor of Ubuntu by just two percent.

Ubuntu 9.10 offered better large file write performance over Fedora where with IOzone testing the 4GB writes the Karmic Koala was at 74MB/s while Constantine came in at 68MB/s.

The 4GB read performance was closer with Ubuntu 9.10 running just 2MB/s faster.
