OpenSUSE Leap 15.1's first win was with MAFFT by a very narrow margin.

The upgraded OpenJDK Java stack by default does seem to introduce some minor performance regressions.

On the Linux distributions with the necessary version requirements of dependencies to build Intel's Streaming Video Technology encoders, Intel's own Clear Linux continued performing the best. It's not only the default compiler optimizations employed by Clear Linux but I'm also told some of their power management decisions are partly why SVT performs so well on Clear with x86_64 hardware compared to other distributions.
