Motherboard Layout:

The ECS H57H-MUS v1.0 is a micro-ATX motherboard that measures in at 244 x 244 mm. Unlike the earlier ECS H55 motherboard that we previously reviewed that only sported two DDR3 memory slots, this motherboard offers four DDR3-1333MHz memory slots and supports up to a total of 16GB of memory. On one side of the DDR3 DIMM slots is the LGA-1156 socket while on the opposite side is the 24-pin ATX power connector.

Between the Intel H55 and H57 chipsets, the former offers just 12 USB 2.0 ports and six PCI Express x1 lanes while the H57 model has 14 USB 2.0 ports and two more PCI Express x1 lanes. The H57 also has optional support for Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Covering the H57 chipset on this motherboard is a small aluminum heatsink with a Black Series moniker atop. Around this Intel chipset are six Serial ATA 2.0 ports, the front panel header, and three USB 2.0 headers. Besides the front panel header, also integrated onto the motherboard PCB itself are power and reset buttons and also a button for easily clearing the CMOS.

The expansion slots on this micro-ATX motherboard include one PCI Express x16, one PCI Express x4, one PCI Express x1, and one PCI slot. Around the Intel LGA-1156 CPU socket is a heatpipe cooling system for driving heat away from some of the motherboard's power circuitry. Next to this cooling system is the 4/8-pin power connector. Like many motherboards these days, the ECS H57H-MUS uses all solid capacitors. This ECS Black motherboard supports LGA-1156 Core i7 / Core i5 / Core i3 processors. For those Clarkdale processors with integrated graphics, the H57 chipset and this motherboard fully support the integrated graphics.

The rear I/O panel ports on this motherboard include VGA, DVI, and HDMI outputs for use with supported Intel Core i3 / Core i5 CPUs with HD graphics capabilities, two Gigabit ethernet connections, three analog audio outputs, one S/PDIF out connector, one eSATA connector, and eight USB 2.0 ports. Via the external PCI-E adapters there are two USB 3.0 ports and one eSATA 6Gb/s connector.
