Trying Out & Benchmarking The DigitalOcean Cloud

This is our first time benchmarking the DigitalOcean cloud so we don't have much else to add to these numbers, especially as the company doesn't publish the actual hardware backing these different droplet instance types. However, the results are as expected with regard to the higher-end instances being measurably faster -- for the tests that are multi-threaded to take advantage of the extra CPU cores.

With some tests showing the 4GB 2CPU droplet being slower than the 2GB 2CPU droplet, as shown on the previous page, DigitalOcean is deploying these droplets on different hardware with CPUs running at different frequencies.
