Upgrading from one CentOS / Red Hat Enterprise Linux release to the next in PostgreSQL was enough to offset the performance difference caused by the standard CPU vulnerability mitigations.

It was a similar story with Redis as well with nice improvements from the big CentOS/RHEL updates.

CentOS 8 does really great in PHPBench thanks to transitioning from PHP5 to PHP7 as the default PHP packages.
