ATI R600 Classic Mesa 7.9 Performance

Warsow happened to be the first test we carried out during this testing. With Mesa 7.7.1 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS the performance with the R600 classic driver was too slow for it to properly run, but with Mesa 7.8 it became half-way playable but still with low frame-rates. With Mesa 7.9, this Qfusion-powered game is now playable with the ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card. From 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1200 the Warsow game ran well with the Mesa 7.9-devel code we tested. The visual regressions we also noticed a few weeks ago with Warsow when Intel's GLSL2 compiler was pushed into master have also been addressed with no apparent visual defects in the tested Git state.

While we encountered some very nice performance improvements with Warsow when testing Mesa 7.9, no changes in either direction were found with OpenArena.
