AMDGPU-PRO 17.10-429170 vs. Linux 4.12 + Mesa 17.2-dev: Open-Source Continues Strong

The AMDGPU-PRO driver is faster than RadeonSI with Unigine Superposition.

With Xonotic, the RX 580 was faster on AMDGPU-PRO while the R9 Fury was faster with the open driver stack.

The open driver was also faster with glmark2.

Meanwhile in the Furmark OpenGL torture test, the performance was close between the competing drivers.

Overall these results are interesting and still largely show the open-source Radeon Linux driver stack (AMDGPU+RadeonSI) performing better than the hybrid AMDGPU-PRO driver but there are exceptions in a few titles plus when it comes to Vulkan performance the RADV numbers tend to lose to the proprietary Vulkan driver or in best case scenarios offer around similar performance.
