Curious about performance changes for AMDGPU-PRO 16.50, I ran some comparison tests to AMDGPU-PRO 16.40. For comparison I ran the drivers on a R9 285, R9 290, RX 460, RX 480, and R9 Fury. With those cards tested I ran into no problems with AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 while with my early press driver there was the aforementioned GCN 1.0 issues preventing tests on those older cards.

All tests happened on Ubuntu 16.04 with Linux 4.4. In a follow-up article will be the fresh AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 vs. open-source OpenGL/Vulkan benchmarks.

For most of the OpenGL tests, there weren't any performance changes to find with AMDGPU-PRO 16.50.
