With the aging id Tech 4 Prey test that still tends to push and expose issues with open-source GPU drivers from time to time, the performance of the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver on higher-end AMD GPUs was upwards of 80% the speed of the Catalyst driver. With the more mature R600 Gallium3D driver for the Radeon HD 5000/6000 series, the Gallium3D performance was in the 80~90% range.

When running the GL2-era open-source OpenArena game, the open-source Radeon performance on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was again over 80% the speed of the Catalyst driver.
