Starting off with the Linux-native Prey at 2560 x 1600, the Radeon HD 7850 Catalyst performance was performing in between the Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6950 graphics cards. When the ASUS Radeon HD 7850 was overclocked, its performance nearly matched the Radeon HD 6950 graphics card. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 "Kepler" graphics card remained the clear front-runner.

For the peculiar Reaction Quake 3 game, the Radeon HD 7850 performance was behind the Radeon HD 6860 and HD 6950 graphics cards. The Radeon HD 7850 was only a little bit faster than the Radeon HD 5830 graphics card for this open-source game using a heavily-modified ioquake3 engine.

When running Unigine Heaven, the Radeon HD 7850 performance was generally right behind the Radeon HD 6870 graphics card. The Radeon HD 7950 graphics card was much faster while the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 remained the obvious winner.
