The Xonotic game on R300g saw some major performance improvements out of Mesa 8.0.4, but this mature Gallium3D driver seems to have regressed on Mesa Git master for the forthcoming Mesa 8.1/9.0 release.

The Lightsmark OpenGL performance has improved with major jumps for this R500-generation GPU coming in Mesa 7.11 and 8.0. The latest performance improvements continue to be maintained on Mesa Git master.

Benchmarks from more older Radeon graphics cards will come as the Mesa 9.0 release approaches next month, including numbers against the legacy Catalyst binary driver.
