With the x264 video encoding benchmark, the FX-8370 was running just slightly faster than the FX-8350 while the FX-8370E with its lower base clock frequency had fallen behind. Interestingly, the FX-8370 came out ahead of the FX-9590 for this test either due to scheduler or thermal happenings. The FX-8370 processor performance in this test came out just ahead of the Core i5 4670.

With GraphicsMagick, the FX-8370E/FX-8370 performance was in line with the Core i3 4130 processor. The Haswell CPUs did really well in this test and even better than the Core i7 4960X Ivy Bridge Extreme Edition due to GM taking advantage of Haswell's new instruction set extensions when compiling this test on those processors.
