AMD FX-4100 Bulldozer

The open-source C-Ray benchmark is a Phoronix favorite for multi-threaded CPU testing and one of the most popular test profiles on OpenBenchmarking.org. With this tortuous test, the AMD FX-4100 is barely more competitive than the Intel Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge (a dual-core 3.3GHz CPU with Hyper Threading) and the AMD A8-3850 Llano pulls out slightly in front of the FX-4100. The Intel Core i5 2500K took half the time to complete the test as was needed by the FX-4100 and the i5-2400S was much faster.

With the multi-threaded Smallpt path tracing Linux test, the FX-4100, A8-3850, and i3-2120 all performed at close to the same speed. The Intel Core i5 2400S and i5 2500K were both significantly faster.

POV-Ray 3.6.1 is single-threaded and here the FX-4100 comes in well behind even the Intel Core i3 2120, even though its base clock frequency is 300MHz higher than the i3-2120 and 500MHz when at its highest operating frequency. At least the FX-4100 Bulldozer managed to pull in front of the A8-3850 Llano.
