With some VP8 and H.264 video encoding, the Athlon 5350 was noticeably faster than the Atom E3825 Bay Trail and the older E-350 and E1-2100 APUs. The Athlon 5350 was about 22% faster than the Atom E3825 for VP8 video encoding while for x264 it was over 70% faster. The Athlon 5350 was 1.5x faster than the E-350 APU for x264. Obviously the Core i3 Haswell and Kaveri APU were faster than the Athlon 5350, but at least this puts the performance into perspective.

Building the Linux kernel takes about 15 minutes on the Athlon 5350... Not something I'd want to do at those speeds, but was still beating out Atom and AMD E series APUs.

The Athlon 5350 had a very strong showing against the other low-end Intel/AMD hardware with the C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracer.
