When running the Darktable RAW photography software on the Threadripper 1950X, its performance was ahead of the 7900X with the large boat/ship scene.

But with our smaller work of the "Masskrug" scene for altering the RAW images, the Intel Skylake-X CPUs were faster.

The Intel Skylake-X CPUs were also faster with the "server room" scene due to their better IPC performance.

While the Ryzen 7 1800X was delivering the best performance-per-dollar.

Also where the Ryzen processors were doing poorly in relation to the latest Intel processors was with the Blender 3D modeling software running on the CPU, though many users these days are relying upon Blender with OpenCL/CUDA acceleration.

The Ryzen Threadripper was also coming behind the Intel competition with some of the other less thread-happy workloads where Intel provides better IPC performance.
