AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Linux Performance
Next up is a look at the Ryzen 5 5600G Ubuntu Linux performance against a variety of AMD Zen 3 and Intel Rocket Lake processors that were freshly benchmarked in preparing for this 5600G/5700G testing.
Warming up these APUs/CPUs right away was running NAMD as a rather demanding start. The Ryzen 5 5600G performance with NAMD was quite similar to that of the Core i5 11600K.
Except the Ryzen 5 5600G had an average CPU package power consumption during NAMD of 70 Watts with a peak of 77 Watts while the Core i5 11600K had a 78 Watt average with a peak of 150 Watts. All CPU package power measurements were read via RAPL interfaces.
The Core i5 11600K retails for about $269 USD compared to the Ryzen 5 5600G being about $10 cheaper at the moment.
In cases like LZ4 and Zstd compression, the Core i5 11600K was coming out slightly faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G.
But most of the time, the Ryzen 5 5600G was running comfortably ahead of the Core i5 11600K.
