Now here is a look at how these new graphics cards stack up against the NVIDIA GeForce series on Linux... Tested on the NVIDIA side were the GeForce RTX 2080, RTX 2080 SUPER, RTX 2080 Ti, TITAN RTX, and RTX 3080. Unfortunately NVIDIA has not yet provided us with any other review models of Ampere besides the RTX 3080, thus no RTX 3070/3090 reference points for this article today.

In the case of the Radeon RX 6800 series given the performance differences observed primarily between AMDGPU-PRO and Mesa 20.3, data from both drivers on these new graphics cards were included.

For those into Dota 2 at 4K, the Radeon RX 6800 XT performance atop the open-source Mesa stack was at 94% the speed of the GeForce RTX 3080. The Radeon RX 6800 was performing similar to the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti as expected.

With the F1 2017 racing game on Linux (the latest F1 game currently supporting Linux natively) the RX 6800 XT was again just behind the RTX 3080 while the RX 6800 was right behind the RTX 2080 Ti. But if using the AMDGPU-PRO packaged driver the performance isn't as competitive.
