AMD's current-generation EPYC processors deliver extremely wonderful value compared to the current Xeon Scalable family pricing.

It's still crazy to see how close the EPYC 7601 performs to the much more expensive dual Xeon Gold 6138 configuration that has 40 cores / 80 threads combined.

As outlined in previous articles, PostgreSQL and Java are two of the few very rare areas where EPYC isn't destroying the Xeon Gold competition in this comparison:
