Now for a look at the single-threaded performance in PHP and Python:

The EPYC 7002 series line-up does deliver a big improvement over the EPYC 7000 series, but these Zen 2 processors trail the Xeon Cascade Lake processors in single-threaded performance, unless of course you are running many single-threaded scripts in parallel.

NeatBench is a new addition to the Phoronix Test Suite and is a benchmark around the proprietary Neat Video video editing software. NeatBench / Neat Video doesn't scale to quite as many cores, but is interesting to see the difference in going from Zen to Zen 2. The Zen 2 CPUs not only pass Xeon Scalable Skylake CPUs but are now in line with the Xeon Scalable Cascadelake processors tested.
