For OpenCL workloads, even these older AMD GCN GPUs continue running strong against the NVIDIA competition. The Radeon R9 290 on Catalyst 15.7 under Ubuntu Linux had in fact outperformed the GTX 980 Ti for LuxMark 3.0's Hotel scene. The R9 290 did very well and the R9 285 / R7 370 CL performance for this scene was just a little bit behind the GeForce GTX 970.

For the microphone scene in LuxMark, the GTX 980 Ti and GTX TITAN X were running a little bit ahead of the R9 290. It will be interesting to see next week how the Radeon R9 Fury performs under Linux.
