For the selection of benchmarks ran on Amazon EC2 with the m6i.4xlarge instance, Clear Linux consistently had a minor (or greater) lead over Amazon Linux 2022. But keep in mind as shown in last week's AL2022 Linux distribution comparison, Amazon Linux 2022 already represents better performance over Amazon Linux 2 as well as Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and CentOS 8. So Intel's Clear Linux is still faster, but Amazon Linux 2022 is still offering very competitive performance. Amazon Linux 2022 also introduces new security features, repository locking support, kernel live patching, and other new features while being backed by Amazon's new two-year release cycle and five year long-term support offering for running this Linux distribution in their cloud.
