With the first OpenGL test, OpenArena, this low-end Intel Haswell Celeron laptop didn't see any performance improvement out of the newer kernel and Mesa code on Ubuntu 14.04, even when upgrading to the Linux 3.14 kernel and Mesa 10.2-devel.

When running the popular open-source Xonotic game, there was a performance improvement on the Acer C720 Chromebook for its Intel HD Graphics when moving from Ubuntu 13.10 to Ubuntu 14.04. No additional performance changes were found for this low-cost laptop when using the Linux 3.14 kernel or Mesa 10.2-devel.
