Conclusion:

It has been about a year that we have been waiting on new models to enter the Sugo series and with the introduction of the SG03 we are finally there, but was it worth the wait? We would say it was overwhelming worth the wait for Sugo #3. The SG03 isn't just a rebadged SG01 with a few minor alterations, but it's more or less a complete redesign. There are a few minor details with the case that are obviously inherited from the original Sugo and the Sugo Evolution (i.e. SilverStone cross-flow fan support, power supply design, and expansion slot design), but as a whole this is an all-new and very exciting case. The SilverStone Sugo SG03 is a SG01 on steroids and it's a sexy yet functional micro ATX chassis. You could also say the SilverStone Sugo SG03 is the Temjin TJ09 of micro ATX cases.

The SG01W may still have an advantage for gamers and LAN partygoers as it has the appeal of two acrylic windows for showing off your hardware, but the SG03 could very well be the perfect candidate for a HTPC setup or even a very nice SOHO server. The Sugo SG01 models also support two 5.25" optical drive bays as opposed to one with the SG03. If you're looking for something a little more conventional, the SilverStone Temjin TJ08 is also a very nice small form factor PC.

While it is clear that we find the SilverStone Sugo SG03 to be an excellent creation, we did experience a few minor issues. These issues mainly revolved around the power supply installation and the cramped work room, but depending upon your hardware if you decide to go and buy the SG03, you may not experience these issues. Depending upon what new cases may be introduced at Computex Taipei 2007, this may very well be the best micro ATX chassis this year -- you will need to stay tuned to Phoronix to find out.

The SilverStone Sugo SST-SG03B and SST-SG03S should be available at retailers toward the end of April or early May. Expect the price to be in the ballpark of $130 to $150 USD. You can discuss the SilverStone Sugo SG03 in the Phoronix Forums where we have been discussing the SG02 and SG03.

The SilverStone Sugo SG03 has been awarded the Phoronix Editor's Choice Award for shear excellence, originality, and the build quality we have become to known and love from SilverStone Technology.
