Examination:

With 27 and 30 inch LCD monitors now being available, 22" widescreen displays no longer reign supreme, but they are now certainly in the budget and realm for most computer users. Starting our examination of this monitor, the bezel around the LCD screen is made of a silver plastic. The quality of construction around the LCD seems to be acceptable and we have no complaints about it, but it is not nearly as nice as the Acer Prestige line. At the bottom of the LCD is the power, auto, menu, increase, and decrease buttons. Later on in this review we will cover the on screen display for the AL2223Wd. At the bottom of the LCD monitor are also dual 1.5 Watt speakers.

The base of the LCD monitor is also made of plastic, but we wish it had a larger base to prevent some of the wobbliness. Granted in most environments the base should work out just fine. Near the back of the monitor stand is the audio input, VGA input, DVI input, and power input. The AC/DC power supply is built into the LCD monitor thus eliminating any power brick, which is certainly great to see. The AL2223Wd also supports VESA wall mounting.

There are tilt adjustments for this monitor, but there is no height or pivoting abilities. There is also no cable management support on the AL2223Wd as we had seen when reviewing the AL1732. The Acer AL2223Wd weighs in at 11.5 lbs and measures in at 20.3 x 16.5 x 8.1 inches. Can this 22" 5ms widescreen LCD operate as well as the previously reviewed Acer monitors? Now it's time to see.
