The I/O performance has improved in some areas with the newer kernel, but for most areas it was flat unless explicitly making use of IO_uring or other particular cases... Pop!_OS continues using the EXT4 file-system by default.

RADV Vulkan compute performance is much faster on the latest OS release...

Across the board there were huge wins for the Radeon RX 5700 XT performance being much faster now at the end of 2021 than in early 2020... Both RadeonSI Gallium3D for OpenGL and RADV Vulkan have matured a hell of a lot over the past two years thanks to AMD, Valve, Red Hat, Google, and other parties involved.

The Radeon RX 5700 XT Navi graphics are much faster on a modern software stack than what was shipped two years ago or if sticking to older LTS/enterprise distributions.

Workstation visualizations and other non-gaming graphics workloads are also much faster.
