Installation:

One of the areas about the HighSpeedPC Tech Station that hasn't changed much is the installation procedure with the exception of the black neoprene mat and rubber standoffs. Although HighSpeedPC has now done a fairly in-depth and informative installation pamphlet with the V2.0 Tech Station, we'll continue to go over the basic mounting procedures and also display the pictures from our setup. First off, everything that's needed to construct the Tech Station is included with the exception of a screwdriver. For our setup we used both a hand screwdriver and an electric 18V cordless unit. During our installation, we refrained from removing any of the labels from the different components to assist in displaying the different parts and assembly in all of our pictures.

To begin the installation, the bench feet need to be installed by using the appropriate washers, rubber feet, and screws. When attaching the feet, the screws should extend beyond the side of the motherboard as later on in the installation the vertical support bars will be threaded to the screws. The new step after installing the bench feet is to assemble the motherboard standoffs. Use the rubber standoffs and metal screws to secure four of the mounts while the two remaining mounts with larger pilot-holes are to be used with the two nylon screws for helping to retain the motherboard from sliding around.

After the standoffs are in place, the vertical supports need to be installed atop the exposed screw threads from the bottom bench. With the four vertical supports installed, before installing the top bench, the side-mounted fan with fan grill needs to be installed. To do so, the metal "L" brackets need to be installed first.

Before attaching the top bench to the vertical supports, the hard drive mounting rails need to be installed. These acrylic drive rails are identical to that on the original HSPC Tech Station and are attached to the top bench by using the screws with 1/2-inch spacers and the two rails. Finally, using the top bench needs to be attached to the vertical supports by using the remaining screws, spacers, and hinged plastic screw covers. One item we're not fond about with the HSPC Tech Station v1.0 and v2.0 are the hinged black plastic screw covers. We found these hinged screw covers to easily pop off. Another one of the optional steps to the HighSpeedPC Tech Station v2.0 is installing the neoprene mat on top of the bench to help in keeping all components from sliding. Overall, the installation is incredibly easy and only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.
