The Performance-Per-Watt Of NVIDIA Fermi To Pascal, AMD R700 To Polaris Benchmarks
Here's a look at the overall CPU usage during all of these Linux game tests on the different GPUs.
Yep, it's pretty clear that the CPU utilization when using the NVIDIA Linux driver is higher than AMDGPU+RadeonSI. I did these tests for all those curious and talking about it in the forums as hypothesizing why the AMD Linux driver stack isn't as good... But the NVIDIA CPU usage isn't really that much higher than AMD.
For those curious about the overall system temperatures for the different graphics cards during testing.
And lastly a look at the AC system power consumption with each of the different graphics cards during the entire span of the Linux benchmarking.
For those concerned about their system's power efficiency and how AMD/NVIDIA Linux GPUs compare on that front or how they have evolved in the past few years, hopefully you found these numbers useful going back to the GTX 460 and HD 4890. If you just care about raw Linux gaming performance, make sure you see the big 31-way NVIDIA/AMD Linux gaming comparison.
