Laptop Power, Boot Times With Ubuntu 17.04

First up are some timed boot tests using the systemd-boot-total test profile for parsing the boot times via systemd.

While the boot time of this Lenovo ThinkPad improved going from 16.04.1 LTS to 16.10, with the stable release updates it actually caused a regression in the boot speed. Ubuntu 17.04 in turn was slower than either combination of Ubuntu 16.10, but it was still slightly ahead of Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

The kernel portion of the boot process seems to get slower with succeeding releases.

The loader itself is about the same speed.

And the user-space components were much faster since Ubuntu 16.10 but have gradually gotten slower through Ubuntu 17.04, at least for this Core i7 Broadwell laptop.
